September 2024 Friends of Unity Color Challenge Blog Hop

Can you believe it?!?!? How is it September already?? Wow, did this year go fast for you as well? One thing that i CAN say is…LOOK at these glorious colors for the September’s Friends of Unity Blog hop. They are delicious aren’t they? Fall is my favorite season. I’m all about the sweatshirts, sweaters and knee high boots. This totally is my season lol. Enough about me…let’s get busy.

Just a side note- if you play along in the color challenge this month then you could win a prize .All you need to do is make a card using the colors in the challenge and enter it into the album in the Show and Tell group. Crystal will randomly pick one winner from the entries. Pretty simple right?!? Good luck my friends. Now on to the cards💛

My first card was inspired by the smell of coffee on a beautifully cool morning. There is just something about the fall season that makes that first sip of coffee seem like a little piece of heaven. First I’d like to share that all of these cards will be using the 5 challenge colors. I have listed below these colors and there numbers from three different mediums.

Copic markers- 110, E74, E19, Y68, Y16

Prismacolor pencils-935, 1095, 925, 118, 1035

Gina K dye inks-Obsidian Black, Charcoal Brown, Tomato soup, Tangerine Twist and Sweet Mango.

The above picture of the bench is from the Color Cube collection and is #72.

The stamp sets used for this card are as followed:

Fall to Go -the coffee cup https://www.unitystampco.com/fall-to-go/

Global Brew- the background stamp https://www.unitystampco.com/global-brew-bkg-3-24/

Coffee Queen- inside sentiment https://www.unitystampco.com/coffee-queen/

I used Unity Stamp Company’s scalloped circle dies https://www.unitystampco.com/scallops-circles-nesting-dies/ along with Gina Marie Designs pierced die set to cut the circles from Hammermill card stick and from Stampin up’s Apricot paper.

When I blend I blend from lightest to darkest and then from darkest to lightest. It just seems to give me a smoother transition between colors.

Sorry about the shine on the label…it’s the Fall to Go stamp set. I tried a multiple camera angles but they all produced that glare….so…this is what we’re stuck with💕

I stamp the same image from the front of all my cards onto the inside of my cards with Lost Shadow Distress ink and then I find a sentiment that coordinates with the card and then I stamp that in black. It’s an extra step that’s not necessary but I feel it brings the card together.

That’s it for this card…on to the second card.

I have to start this out with…I am a designer paper pack hoarder. I love looking at the beautiful colors and scenes that would take me a lifetime to achieve by hand drawing them. I’m sure that there are a few of us out there in this big crafty world that love there papers as much as I do😉💛. You are my tribe❣️

The designer paper pack is called Golden Autumn Whispers https://www.unitystampco.com/golden-autumn-whispers-paper-pack/ and matches the challenge colors so perfectly that I had to use it. It was painful but I’ll be ok lol. The paper reminds me of what the river looks like when I summer sun sets. As I sat looking at it all that came to my mind was sitting next to my husband…just like this image depicts.

I didn’t realize I had this image until I was looking for a stamp to come close to what my mind was envisioning. It’s PERFECT…spot on in my opinion.

The frame die I used on this card is the scalloped peak a boo rectangle die from Gina Marie designs.

I used the Copic colors I mentioned above to color both of their clothes and then the neutrals to color their skin. His hair looks red in the pictures but in real life it’s more of a dark blonde. I fussy cut them out and glued them to the designer paper. I have found that if you just tape them down….the end up popping off because of the clear coat finish on the paper.

I forgot to take a picture of the Hello die which is from Waffleflower…sorry.

The sentiment was from a sheet of cut sentiments from Unity stamp Company. The sheet came in the brown paper gift bag with one of my orders. I just can’t say how much I appreciate Unity stamp company for loving us Unies like they do.

Well…that’s it for the second card…

Here is my third color challenge card for the September blog hop. I can’t tell you how much I love to color. It truly has been my passion since I was in kindergarten. Sitting down with my crayons trying to make a realistic color blend at the age of 6 was a challenge but I think I’m getting the hang of it…now that I’m 52 lol.

The Letting go stamp set https://www.unitystampco.com/letting-go/ is pretty self explanatory isn’t it? The tree dropping its leaves to get ready for the next stage of life…Hibernation. If the tree held on to those leaves and tried to sustain them throughout the winter…the whole tree would die. Just like the tree…we too need to let go of the things that weigh us down and damage are inner most beings. Peace is what Jesus left for us so let’s grab on to Him and let go of everything else my friends.

The copic colors are the same as mentioned above…and there is that wonderful cut sentiment sheet from Unity again💕

I started this card out thinking I wanted my leaf to be down in the right hand corner of the panel but things changed course when I adhered the panel to the card base…upside down 🙄 it just didn’t look right with all that white space now that it was upside down. Sooo like every good crafter I improvised. I had to mask off the edges of the right corner (because stamping over the stitched line would throw the whole aesthetics off) and then pray to God that I wouldn’t mess up the stamping and coloring of the second leaf. He is an awesome God that knows my heart and wants to help me in my time of need. It’s in those panic moments He really comforts me.

It came out better than what I first envisioned…in my opinion that is💛

That’s it for the third card…now on to my last card for the hop. It too is a pretty easy card to reproduce in a pinch for time.

Here it is….last card from me for this color challenge…

Being that I just received the Tender Thoughts stamp set https://www.unitystampco.com/tender-thoughts/ from Unity, it was sitting on my desk just begging to be inked up…so I agreed and used it to make this card. It’s really a perfect set for the color challenge. The brown/red and Orange Tiger Lillies are in full force here in Wisconsin, bringing inspiration to me through my window. I just can’t believe it’s September already. Three more months til Christmas….YIKES!!

Anywho….back to the card. I tore some paper and taped it to the panel leaving the small opening to blend my colors on. After I was happy with the blend I let it dry before stamping and embossing the Love and Wisdom stamp https://www.unitystampco.com/love-wisdom-background/ in white on the background. I then stamped the Lilly image with Stazon black ink so it would cover the white embossing. (I’m sure I could have thought the process through better than I did…but…I improvised…again)

I cut the frame from the Waffleflowers rectangle frame die set in white and adhered it to my panel. I backed the panel with a black panel and then adhered it to my card base. The sentiment on the front is from a stamp set that the packaging was thrown away so I don’t have its name or maker …sorry. The inside sentiment is from Penny Blacks Deepest Sympathy stamp set.

Well my crafty friend…we have come to the end of my blog hop. I pray you were inspired by one or more of the cards shared today. I hope you all can take some time out of your day and week to just relax in your craft space and enjoy your time there. I truly appreciate each and every one of you that has hopped along with us this month. You truly are what makes these hops AMAZING!!

Now that we are done here…it’s time to hop on to Tammy’s blog and continue the fun filled adventure of this September’s Friends of Unity Color Challenge❣️God bless and stay safe my friends💛
