Country lovin’ pop up easel.
Hello crafty friends❣️ I’m so excited and honored to be part of the Friends of Unity Blog hop design team. This months cue is all about card techniques. I would love to share the Pop-up easel technique with you today.
Let’s jump right into the details of this card.
The idea for this card stemmed from the new Tab fold card die from Unity Stamp Company .
I call this technique a Pop-up easel card. As we go through the steps below everything will start to make sense.( this is my first actual blog post shared so please bare with me…I’m a little nervous)
First we have the card base cut from 110# Hammermill cover cardstock and the new Tab fold card die.
Next I cut the panels out using the designer paper Country Lovin’ paper pack and the dies provided in the Tab fold card set. I shared the dimensions of each panel with you by taping them to each panel as you can see in the picture 👇🏻👇🏻. I ink blended the top white panel to create a soft clouded sky for the background of my card scene with Tim Holtz distress ink. The third picture in this series is of the top flowered designer paper panel after I used the boarder edge die from Lawn Fawn.
The stamp set that I used to exhibit this technique is called Chick tribe. I used Copic markers to color these cute ladies. Ohhh there are so many possibilities with this stamp set that I can’t even begin to explain what fun you will have with it.
The next two steps involve the die cut assembly of the Build a Barn and the Pull and Pop dies from Lawn Fawn. They pair so nicely with these cool country Chicks. I love the attitude these ladies have…so much like the Red Hat Society lol.
The barn is made from the Country Lovin’ paper pack as well. The trim is die cut from the generous gift of pre-cut tags that Unity sends along with my product order…so …would you call that up cycling or just recycling ?!? I’ll have to check into that lol 😉 I figured since the colored worked well…I might as well use one.
The second picture is of the Pull and Pop-up die set from Lawn fawn which made this technique possible.
This next die set is from Unity Stamp Company. It’s called Scalloped and stitched sentiment dies . I use these dies often to give my cards that special completed touch of elegance.
Ok…now that we have all the technical details shared let’s assemble this card❣️ I’m so excited!! Aren’t you? This picture is what it looks like when it’s closed. I secured bakers twine to the back panel of the tab by sandwiching it between two decorative tab die cuts. The string slides freely to tighten or loosen the card for easy opening and closing . I used the paper pack title page for the front panel of this card. Country living/lovin’ is being in unity with your surroundings and the creator that made them. So…. this panel was a no brainer for me. Country lovin’ is a heart felt reality around here along with friendship/unity💛.
This next two pictures are of the fully assembled card. The first is what it looks like when the card is just opened, not engaging the pop-up effect. The second is of the card exhibiting the “pop-up” easel technique. I have to tell you…I need to truly take some time and make more pop up cards because…this one almost kicked my butt lol. If there wasn’t a pause button on the Jennifer McGuire’s tutorial video…this card would have met the round filing cabinet lol.
I hope you have enjoyed the technique blog hop and I pray I have inspired you to try out the Pop-up feature with these beautiful ladies from the Chick tribe stamp set at Unity stamp company.
God bless you all and stay safe❣️❣️
