Friends of Unity February 2025 Monochromatic Blog Hop

Hello My Crafty Friends!!

Oh how much I have missed interacting with you during our Blog Hop. I appreciate you all so much and feel completely blessed to have you in my life❣️ Thank you so much for being here with me today.

I have to admit…I don’t believe I have ever created a Monochromatic card …on purpose that is. I have always admired looking at the beautiful creations that all of you wonderful humans have exhibited in your posts, I just didn’t think i could achieve the levels of awesomeness you all have reached BUT…I am learning that practice makes …well…me better than not practicing lol. let’s get to the first but not last of the Monochromatic cards in my future Arsenal of creations.

I chose the blue/aqua color for this month’s monochromatic palette because the Kindness Unfolded stamp set has a tranquil feel to it to me. It definitely comes in handy for those of us that want to send a personalized thank you to those that have been helping us out in our time of need. Let me tell you…this past year had really been jammed pack with heavy life experiences for me so having this stamp set in my hands right now is a true blessing.

This photo is to give you a better feel on what the actual colors of the card was made of. They were came from the Echo Parks cool color pack.

Kindness Unfolded by Unity stamp set and the Love to layer picked square die set from Papertrey ink.

The stencil is a distressed honey comb stencil from Unity stamp company. Now, I have to admit, I do not know it the Nuvo glacier paste is still available. I hope it is because after so many years…it’s still usable.

I wanted to show what everything looks like before I put it together, just incase this card inspired you to make one of your own💛 The ribbon is from the Stampin’ up ribbon line.

If you have noticed, there really isn’t any continuity with this card…except the color palette. The frame dies are all different, the front frame is offset, the strips of paper and pasted honey comb dots are rough and scattered BUT (in my opinion) it came together to create something uniquely beautiful. Life can be that way at times. Chaotic, ugly, lonely or dark, out of order and wonky. When one takes a step back, when one can catch a breath, there is something beautiful that can be extracted from the experience. Growth, wisdom, confidence, knowledge, strength, dignity. Even in the midst of pain and suffering, if we can direct our focus on the greater…more positive possibilities, even for as little as a split second…it can change our perspective and bring us peace in the storm.

The past few months, who am I kidding..the past year has been increasingly difficult for me. Too many life events happening and none of them were close to being joyful. This card is the first card I have made in two months. I feel that it represents me well. All messy but uniquely beautiful💛

One to the next card. I’m trying to embrace the color choice here so stick with me if you can lol.

I have noticed throughout my crafty years of card making that I tend to stay far away from the pink color palette for some reason that hasn’t been revealed to me yet. Maybe it stemmed from painting my daughter’s room Pepto-Bismol pink 27 years ago, it being so offensive that we painted over it within days🤷🏼‍♀️😂

This little pissy Kitty in curlers seemed to be a good match for the feeling I have towards that color lol.

The paper that I used is from Stampin’ Up (20 years ago…I told you I stear clear of it but being I have the complete set syndrome…here it is 😬) The strip size is 1/4 of an inch. The die set used for the shape of the panel and what I’m using as splatter spots is from Whimsy Stamps. It’s called Mix and Match Marquee Die set.

For the Black Coffee word, I tried to mask the word off a few times without success so I took my X-Acto knife and skillfully cut it out of my bg stamp. It slips right back into place with ease. Now I’m able to use the coffee word as a bg stamp or part of a sentiment. I think it’s called “stretching your supplies”?!?

I cut a mask out so I could stamp the Damask Grunge stamp as the wallpaper behind the colored image. Before I removed the mask I did the shadowing around the kitty as well.

Staying true to the monochromatic theme for the month I stamped my curlered kitty in pink instead of gray this time. The sentiment is from the taylored expressions Simple Strips-Friend stamp set.

I hope you have enjoyed my blog post and this months Monochromatic them. I’d love to see what you create this month♥️
